Amanda and I were acquaintances prior to our first real estate relationship because we dealt with a significant traumatic experience, so I knew a few things about her. I trusted her. Amanda was pleasant, kind, hardworking, and had a way of soothing things over. Unfortunately, Amanda fell short of a positive experience in the long term. Amanda represented us in the purchase of a home in 2018, the sale of that home in 2025 and a lot purchase a month later. The market was good to us those both years, but Amanda dropped the ball on the purchase of our lot in 2025. She told us that lot purchases are different, difficult, and not something she usually did. We were well aware of the difference and difficulty because we did extensive research; but I wish she self-regulated and stepped down from something she didn't usually do. Amanda missed her own deadlines to send us comparables and write up an offer for the lot--TWICE. #1 Amanda had other priorities. She was moving to Texas from California the week she told us she would get us comparables and write up an offer, so I asked her if a lot purchase was something she wanted to do for us or could do at all. I was hoping she would be forthcoming and give herself an out, but to our disappointment, she stayed with us. We continued to put our trust in Amanda. #2 Amanda is dishonest and has no empathy. For the lot purchase, Amanda didn't follow through with a promise to write up a deed to add a spouse. (See image) When the time came, we reminded Amanda about the document and she stated she couldn't create a legal document and sent us forwarded emails and text images of what she was being told---a poor way to communicate. #3 At the sign of conflict, Amanda quits. Half way through the purchase of the lot, Amanda sent forwarded emails without her own written synopsis or "FYI." She also sent us snap shots of text messages from the escrow company without any explanation. However, the escrow helped us more by calling or texting us through the process. #4 Tit-For-Tat. In 2018, when she sold us our first home, I asked her how she handled difficult clients. She said she holds on to information until she needs something from a difficult client and slows communication. Keeps them at bay. Amanda stopped communicating effectively with us so I was well aware that we were going endure a lot of stress. #5 Amanda multitasked at our expense. Until the downfall of our purchase of a lot, the relationship with Amanda was fine; but in her own words, when we reconnected to sell our home, she told me she's "Not the same person" and she was contemplating on ending her career in real estate since she was a mother now and she was moving to Texas at the end of our sell. She even said we were her last client. #6 I can go on-and-on. Reply here and ask me anything. I wish Amanda showed empathy and walked away. Amanda's priorities changed. It wasn't a huge sale, but it was our dream. It wasn't a huge commission, but it was the beginnings of our journey. Amanda was right about a few things: she's not the same driven agent I knew and she was halfway out the door into another state while we needed her. Buyer and Seller Beware
